This was always going to be a long haul part of the trip – roughly 350 miles in one hit…. I would like to say that I wanted to have lots of photos of this – and other – journeys but, being honest Jo is never going to challenge a professional photographer… actually, she would not challenge an amateur either but. Anyway, with out having had a chance to properly look or “breathe” on the images, these are the best

So – straight through Bordeaux and we also crossed the Loire at Nantes – and that is one hell of a bridge! Anyway, we watched the countryside change and arrived in Penestin. I have never really been in Brittany – bar stepping over the border at Mont St Michel which we will be going to – possibly on Sunday. This campsite is part of a group that is very popular it seems – the two nights we have been here, people are coming and going. But – we are not here for the campsite – but to relax and eat well – and explore the coast.
The restaurant here is busy, and has a great choice of foods. Madame and myself went for the Steak Hache burger on the first night – along with sharing a mixed meat platter – c’est tres Bon! for our last night Jo – at my insistence tried the Moules; I went for the Chicken Caesar. Madame was not a great fan of the moules, and being honest I did not enjoy the Chicken as it was a tad pink 😦

For our full day here, we went for a walk and just enjoyed the stunning views – the small boats were gathering the mussels for the diners. We chatted with some locals and just – well, went with the vibe.

This part of France is, in my opinion – ruggedly beautiful. I reminds me of Cornwall with the rock pools left by the tides and the fresh scent of the sea on the breeze. We have enjoyed our time here – and i feel certain that we will come back to explore Brittany more in the future.
One thing that I do think is worth mentioning – to anyone planning on visiting France – try to speak French. A good friend’s french wife asked if I had met many grumpy french people – being honest, no – but I think that is because i have tried to speak French at all times. I acquired Mondly a long time ago, and despite my accent being atrocious – I have used that app to help build a vocabulary
